We haven’t inherited the Earth from our parents,

we are borrowing it from our children.

The Gasthof Postwirt was founded in 1912 by Hans Schmidt, born in Stein bei Nürnberg, and his wife Maria (née Hofer), a local to the Seeboden area. The guesthouse has been owned by the family ever since.
Franz Schmidt continued to follow these family traditions, focusing on quality and looking after the guests. In 1970, the neighbouring Villa Ulrich was acquired and expanded by his son, Hans Schmidt.
In 1973, Hans then took over the running of the guesthouse in its 3rd generation, following the premature death of his father. A respectable standard was achieved following various improvements and modernisation work. The current owner, Franz Josef Schmidt, took over the running of the guesthouse as the 4th generation manager on 1.1.1999 following his father’s retirement.
